Not sure if you anyone has seen this ad on the Naharnet website:
Well, it doesn’t work. I actually received word of this service before Naharnet began advertising it. My mobile service provider, etisalat, was kind enough to send a Sales, Promotion & Advertising Message (aka SPAM) informing Lebanese subscribers of the service. I have tried subscribing in early April when I first got the message and this morning as well; the response I receive is the same:
From: AFP Lebanon
Message: Sorry, an error has occured. Please try again later.
No idea what the error could be. Maybe that fact that they misspelled ‘occurred’. Has anyone in the UAE had any luck with this? Not sure who to speak to: etisalat, Naharnet, or AFP Lebanon?

Hi Jad,
I am living in the UAE and I am subscribed to Lebanon AFP Arabic and english news services for more than 3 months,
Just send LN to 1110 for AFP lebanese news in arabic and LNE for AFP lebanese news in english.
You might have sent wrong messages or the application might had some errors while you were trying to subscribe, but as user experience it is working great from months ago …

Hi Assaad,
Thanks for the info! I’ve just tried sending the SMS again but I haven’t received a response back. I’ve been trying LNE but if it does not work, I’ll try the LN message. As a subscriber to both, do you get the same news in both languages or are there differences between what is reported on each service?

Well, I can report that I tried both LN and LNE and I still get the same error message. Oh well, I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

The subscription service is working fine. Many people are subscribing everyday by sending LN or LNE to 1110.
If you are still experiencing problems, please call etisalat’s customer’s service (101) and check with them so they can follow up , and you can report it in naharnet portal http://web.naharnet.com/feedback/ by submitting your phone number so they can track your unsuccessful subscriptions.

I don’t have the power to do that – I recommend contacting your service provider they should be able to disconnect you from the service.
