David Yates, director of 3 of the 6 Harry Potter movies (including the latest, Deathly Hallows) has set-up his plans once work on the final installment of the film franchise is over:
“I’m going to see parts of the world I’ve never been to, like Beirut and Palestine, to meet people who are leading lives far removed from the life I’ve been leading,” Yates says. “I’ve learned a lot creatively and technically over the last few years, and it’s also taught me how important it is between movies to go away and recharge, because that’s what fuels the work.
In terms of the big screen, Yates plans to direct and produce Saint Nazaire, a film based on the World War II military operation of the same name. I wonder if there are any connections between his visit to the region and the upcoming film?
Most probably we in Beirut do lead a life far removed from the life he’s leading, but there is something to it to put Beirut and Palestine in the same sentence and as a common source to recharge.. hmmm we’ll have to wait and see?
I agree and I know I’m probably going to have to give myself a Looks Like Beirut certificate but with an upcoming movie about war and a visit to what is widely (though wrongly) perceived as war zones is too suspicious.
