The UN has released its 2011 Human Development Index which measures the development of people in countries based on life expectancy, literacy, education and standards of living. According to the Lebanon comes in 7th place among Arab countries (71 globally). Here are the Arab country ratings:

  1. United Arab Emirates (30)
  2. Qatar (37)
  3. Bahrain (42)
  4. Saudi Arabia (56)
  5. Kuwait (63)
  6. Libya (64)
  7. Lebanon (71)
  8. Oman (89)
  9. Tunisia (94)
  10. Jordan (95)

The UAE, Qatar and Bahrain are considered to be very highly developed countries in terms human development while the remaining countries on the list are just plain high (except for Jordan which is considered medium). Norway has retained the top spot globally as the place to be.
