The developer that brought us Mall of the Emirates (and its Ski Dubai) and (if you are familiar with the GCC) the myriads of City Centres is now expanding into the rest of the Middle East:
Majid Al Futtaim Properties, the largest developer of shopping malls in the Middle East…is looking at over 14 projects in UAE, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen…
We are going to have more shopping malls which means, of course, more of the same thing. MAF Properties is looking to have these 14 projects completed by 2015. Sounds a while away, right? Well, in a few places, they may already have the ground works in place:
The company already controls land in Egypt, Beirut, Damascus, Oman and Qatar,
Can’t wait until we have another place to buy Starbucks coffee and Zara clothing.
My thoughts are with the small businesses in Lebanon that will get affected by such huge malls! Here in Canada it’s the same thing, malls everywhere, and the exact same shops (mostly chains) open in each mall!
