The 4th poorest city in the US is trying to rid itself of its “Beirut” looks:
Just days after Albany was named the fourth poorest city in the country, city leaders cut the ribbon on a new affordable housing complex.
“Prior to this project, this place looked like Beirut,” said Ward VI Commissioner Tommie Postell. “It looked like it had been bombarded. Houses were dilapidated. Tenants did not have very much care for it because the houses were in such poor conditions.”
It’s no surprise that a poor city such as Albany would also have a poor knowledge about the outside world. Tommie Postell, your “Looks Like Beirut” certificate is on its way.
