The UK steakhouse, Gaucho is expanding and has decided to open its first overseas restaurant in Beirut:
Gaucho has announced Beirut as the location for its first branch outside the UK. The Argentine steak restaurant is due to open its flagship venture in the Lebanese capital next month.
Located at Phoenix Tower in Minet El Hosn, Gaucho Beirut overlooks the city’s Mediterranean coastline, but remains within close range of its business district, designer shops and famous nightlife.

Gaucho will be introducing Beirut residents, together with the hoards of wealthy Gulf state visitors who descend on the city, to its repertoire of prime Argentine-sourced beef, empanadas, ceviche and a list of more than 80 wines, as well as the chain’s distinctive cow hide and mirrored interior design.
So get ready to experience Argentina in Beirut (albeit originating from the UK).

Thanks for the info – I’ve sent them an email seeking an explanation.
Hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of this.
Here’s the facts as per the Gaucho owner whom I happen to have met personally.
Gaucho has 11 outlets in the UK and one in Holland. Gauchos Beirut is owned and operated by Gaucho UK. No local partners.
Gaucho Kuwait is a franchise.
Gauchos serves 7 tons of prime beef from Argentina … per week !! That’s 7000 kilos of meat per week through 13 outlets including Kuwait.
The owner is South African, by the way, but has lived in Europe for over 2 decades.
It will be a big success in Beirut for sure.
I had the feeling that was the case though with an outlet in Holland that would essentially mean the the press release is wrong – Beirut is the second overseas expansion.
