An abandoned school in LaSalle, Illinois is being demolished after being described by the city’s Fourth Ward Alderman as Beirut-like:
The La Salle City Council is seeking roughly $172,000 in grant funding to tear down the old Matthiessen School building.

Alderman T. “Boo” Herndon, who toured the building prior to the abatement process, said the property needs to be demolished. “It’s like Beirut on the inside of it,” he said.
One “Looks Like Beirut” Certificate to the City Offices of LaSalle will be dispatched shortly.
