LebExile had passed on some news that James Blunt was raving to a Australian radio station (Mix106.5) about the greatest place he has ever visited and played to — Beirut:

Here’s a transcript of what he said; you can hear the entire interview here (the part on Lebanon is at 3:33):

The most fun place I ever played was in Beirut, in Lebanon, that was the most incredible place in the world. Fascinating this mixture of Arab, Muslim, Christian, Jew  all thrown in together – the French culture, beautiful city on the sea and there were these scars of war, motar rounds, and small arm fire, old hotels blown up and things like that all around you and then this incredible old beautiful buildings as well, it was a complete mix. And the audience were the best audience I ever played to in the world.

There you have it – so now when artists perform in Lebanon and yell “I love you Beirut” they may actually mean it.
