The media is totaling wrong; <sarcasm>shooting sprees in Beirut are completely different than ones in Karachi</sarcasm>:

Parts of Karachi city, plagued by target killings, have been declared “red zones” and midnight operations were to start from Tuesday night to ferret out the men behind them.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik held a joint press conference after they met to discuss the law and order in Karachi at CM House.

At least 154 people have been killed in Karachi this month but out of these, only 43 were target killings.

“The media is exaggerating the situation by portraying Karachi as if it is Beirut. Every murder in the city is not a target killing. I appeal to journalists and media groups to please verify the news from different sources before reporting it,” [Malik] said.

Can’t wait to send a ‘Looks Like Beirut’ certificate to a current government minister. Interesting this is the third Karachi-Beirut comparison I’ve found in the past 6 months (Karachi is Pakistan’s Beirut | “MQM Will Convert Karachi into Beirut”).
