Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community:
I am pleased to share some exciting news about the new home for the McDonough School of Business. Tomorrow we will announce that the new building will be named the Rafik B. Hariri Building.
…
This $20 million naming gift through the Hariri Foundation was made possible by Saad Hariri (B’92), the newly designated Prime Minister of Lebanon and son of Rafik Hariri.
Earlier this year, AUB inaugurated the Rafik Hariri School of Nursing. Are universities the next investment cash cow? I mean why would you want an SOB named after you?
Boston’s school of Management is also named after Rafik Hariri.
Hi iglina, thanks for the info.
So there must be some benefit to having University Buildings named after you. Maybe it’s like Monopoly, the more things you have of one color, the more you can charge.
or maybe it’s because prestigious universities allowed your sons to go there, doing nothing and still get graduated :p
LOL. Well it seems to qualify them to run a country.
Universities are business after all.
They peddle their Logos with your name on them.
Interesting article about Georgetown. It seems that more and more colleges are making important strides to improve their esteemed universities.
