The online male magazine, AskMen.com, has compiled its yearly Top 29 cities for men to live in. Here’s how they’ve come up with the rankings:
Our formula has ranked the best cities for men – the best cities in which to live, work and party – based on data that includes the number of guaranteed vacation days per year, weather, unemployment rate, new restaurant and club openings, the cost of a Nissan 370Z, and more.
Here are this year’s rankings:
- New York
- Melbourne
- Tokyo
- Madrid
- London
- Cape Town
- Miami
- Buenos Aires
- Sydney
- San Francisco
- Paris
- Los Angeles
- Hong Kong
- Tel Aviv
- Barcelona
- Sao Paulo
- Berlin
- Lisbon
- Beirut
- Istanbul
- Shanghai
- Montreal
- Amsterdam
- Chicago
- Toronto
- Kyoto
- Bogota
- Rome
- Las Vegas
Yep, Beirut ranks 19 with the only competition from Tel Aviv here in the Middle East, while at the same time beating Istanbul, Amsterdam and Las Vegas.
Why does Beirut do so well? Well, according to the website, the city ranks high in terms of weather, dating (high women-to-men ratio and high percentage of university-educated females), and the fresh air factor. Though for the last measurement, they cheated by grouping other parts of Lebanon, like the Cedars, into their ranking.

Ah, no. It’s the caption AskMen.com have provided to that photo. Plus, the beach is in the western portion of Beirut, is it not?
It actually IS the (only) public beach in (West) Beirut – it’s Ramlet el Bayda. Can’t imagine that the target readers of ask.men would go there, though… haha!
LOL, very true.
