From North Richmond, California:

A second deadly shooting in two nights has North Richmond on edge, as residents and local leaders scramble to head off further violence and law enforcement officials ramp up their efforts.

[…]

“It’s like Beirut in here right now,” said [Joe] McCoy, who has been working in the neighborhood daily in an attempt to intervene and avert further violence.

Joe McCoy is an agent with the Office of Neighborhood Safety and he’ll be receiving this ‘Looks Like Beirut’ certificate for his vivid description of the situation in North Richmond. Oh, just wanted to add this snippet I found on Wikipedia:

North Richmond has a reputation for being extremely dangerous. It is often vilified in the media, as its citizens are often the victims or perpetrators of gang violence, shoot-outs and drive-by shootings. Drug dealing and drug possession are common. The area is also worked by crack dealers and prostitutes. The community has been described by county officials as a “magnet” for illegal dumping.

The community is one of the most dangerous in the state and nation.
