Following the comment by a French firefighter in which he compares an attack on his office to Beirut, I realized that it was time to expand my quest for “looks like Beirut” culprits to beyond the English language. Rana from Toom Extra has done the honors to inaugurate the project by providing translations of the “Looks Like Beirut” Certificate in French and German:
How many languages can we get this certificate translated into? That’s all up to you. If you would like to provide your linguistic services and help translate these certificates, just leave a comment at the bottom of this post with the language you suggest and I’ll contact you behind the scenes to see how we can get this done.
In Spanish it’s simply “parece Beirut”. A Google search brings up some results, for example, in this post someone says “My garden looks like Beirut” – http://www.infojardin.com/foro/showthread.php?t=6740
I am curious to compare what comes up for Arabic with what comes up or European languages. No one wants to cover Arabic? عيب عليكم : ) Sadly, my own skills are not sufficient…
Surprisingly no one has come forward to work on an Arabic version.
