Monona County Sheriff’s Deputy Roger Krohn has received his “Looks Like Beirut” certificate for his “Mapleton looks like downtown Beirut” statement and here’s what he had to say:
I was really surprised…pleasantly to get snail mail from you. What an ingenious idea…using this site as a means to communicate to the world on the beauty of Beirut. I stand corrected, and you have my word I will never use that cliche again. By the way, I will frame the award, if only as a reminder to myself to be more apprpriately descriptive in the future. After Mapleton recovers, I truly hope that it does look like Beirut. Thanks for the reminder. Take care. Roger
We have succeeded to get another convert! Of course, there’s still more that needs to be done even if it means taking it one certificate at a time.
In case I still haven’t told you this, here goes: You’re awesome dude! Keep it up 🙂
LOL, thanks for the support!
You rock Jad! I love his response btw. very honest and fair 🙂
Thanks Liliane!
Amazing!!! I like his answer
Thanks Marie!
I love that he responded and stands checked.
Very happy to have gotten a positive response.
I’m so proud of you Jad! Be sure I’ll be sharing this link 😀 What a great and hilarious idea 😀
Thanks Sareen! Your comics are amazing; always look forward to reading them.
I love your certificates, and it is awesome that you had a positive response from the sheriff!
I was watching this movie on TV today: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0850253/
(Battle in Seattle)
and they used the expression “looks like Beirut” when there was a battle between the police and the activists, and they broke shop windows, used teargas, etc.
I dunno if you already featured it here, but I thought of this blog when I saw it!
Thanks Delirious, I’ll look into that show and see if I can possibly send a certificate to the script writers. If you do read or hear any “looks like Beirut” comments, just let me know. I’ll arrange for a certificate to be sent out.
Thanks Najib for the link. For a complete list of responses received over the past 2+ years, you can check out the Looks Like Beirut No More page.
